Books

Mikkeli Centre of Photography produces books of a high level. The most important partners are Musta Taide Publishing Company and The Finnish Museum of Photography.

In 2003 the Centre released a book about humour. Virne/Grin - Humour in Finnish photography is the first publication covering that topic. Authors are Olli Jaatinen, Laura Luostarinen, Tuomas Nevanlinna and Merja Salo. The book has been sold out.

Stereovalokuvan taika - The Magic of 3-D Photography (2007) was published also as a book. Authors are Petri Anttonen, Erkki Huhtamo and Olli Jaatinen. The book is first volume covering stereoscopy in Finnish.

Ikiliikkuja - Perpetuum Mobile - Newspaper Länsi-Savo 120 Years was published in 2009, including 200 photos by local photojournalists.

The Centre is curating a large project Muuttuva Mikkeli - Changing Mikkeli. The subject of this project is the extensive modification of cityscape. Local photographers have purposefully been taking pictures all the way from the 50´s. The project has around 30 photographers. Muuttuva Mikkeli - Changing Mikkeli will be published as a book in 2014.
