Collection of MCP
Mikkeli Centre of Photography supervises two large picture collections, both representing photojournalism at it´s best: Arkemme kuvittajat - Illustrators of the Ordinary - Six Finnish Photojournalists was compiled in 2005 as an exhibition in our Centre. Ikiliikkuja - Perpetuum Mobile, the 120th anniversary exhibition of Länsi-Savo was collected in 2009.
Artist photographer Juha-Pekka Inkinen has kindly donated his Osmo series from 1989 in the Centre´s collection. All the original 20 images - printed from colour negatives - were scanned, processed, printed and framed. The updated set was presented for the first time in the 20th anniversary exhibition of Mikkeli Centre of Photography in September 2009.
In addition to the mentioned series the Centre has circa 20 separate art works, representing different shades of contemporary photography.
All in all, the collection consists of some 270 photographs, most of them being framed.
