Research projects
Mikkeli Centre of Photography has been researching photography in the following way:
In 2003 the Centre released a book about humour. Virne/Grin - Humour in Finnish photography is the first publication covering that topic. Authors are Olli Jaatinen, Laura Luostarinen, Tuomas Nevanlinna and Merja Salo. The book has been sold out.
In 2005 the Centre curated an exhibition Arkemme kuvittajat/Illustrators of the Ordinary - Six Finnish Photojournalists. The project was edited to become a book, but was never printed att that time due to the lack of funding. Nevertheless, this project will be continued in the near future, likely in 2012: the exhibition will be updated as well as the edited material, which is going to be printed in the form of a book.
Stereovalokuvan taika - The Magic of 3-D Photography (2007) was published also as a book. Authors are Petri Anttonen, Erkki Huhtamo and Olli Jaatinen. The book is first volume covering stereoscopy in Finnish.
Most of the articles are in Finnish and in English.
Changing Mikkeli is a research project launched by the Centre concerning the history of Mikkeli.
